Dee Dee met her husband on Match.com and has been happily married for 15 years.
Together they’re raising three beautiful children, two girls and a boy, and living proof that real love can be found online when faith, clarity, and readiness come together.
But Dee Dee didn’t always have the confidence she has today.
Growing up, she loved romantic comedies but secretly wondered if that kind of love would ever happen for her. She was shy, too shy to even talk to men, and didn’t date seriously until graduate school. Her first relationship lasted only two months because she was afraid to be herself.
Everything began to change when she moved to Alabama after earning her master’s degree in journalism.
Working as a reporter, buying her first home, and learning to stand on her own two feet helped her grow in confidence. She began dating more, learning what worked and what didn’t. With each experience, she discovered more about who she was, what she wanted in a man, and what she would never settle for again.
She even came close to engagement, going ring shopping with one boyfriend, but realized deep down he wasn’t the one. Just three weeks later, while watching Lifetime movies on a quiet Saturday, a Match.com commercial kept replaying. On the tenth time, she decided to try it, and that decision changed her life.
After creating a thoughtful profile and doing a specific search, Dee Dee met the man who would become her husband.
Because she had grown through past experiences and mastered her own dating process, she was ready. Within three weeks, he told her he loved her. Eight months later, he proposed. One year after they met, they were married.
While many people say marriage is hard, Dee Dee’s 15 years of marriage have been the opposite. She’s had a pretty easy marriage. She credits that to marrying the right person and knowing how to build a relationship on a strong foundation. Through her book 10 Secrets to a Happy Marriage and her coaching, Dee Dee teaches women the same skills that make love feel effortless, not exhausting, and help create marriages that truly last.
